Macro situation

The administrative district of Darmstadt covers the south of the federal state of Hesse and thus has around 4 million inhabitants. It is part of the flourishing metropolitan region of Frankfurt-Rhine-Main-Neckar and generates a large part of the entire Hessian gross domestic product. The district of Darmstadt-Dieburg is located in the heart of this administrative district. Its 23 cities and municipalities are considered a region with future opportunities — not least due to the very well-developed infrastructure including connections to three important motorway sections. Darmstadt-Dieburg is a modern high-tech location and home to large, successful companies from the building materials, food and paint industries. In addition, fertile soils ensure profitable agriculture. The main focus is on growing asparagus and corn. Organic agriculture also plays a major role in the region.
