Macro situation

The town of Lohme has around 455 inhabitants and is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district. On the holiday island of Rügen, the town owes its name to the old fishing village of Lohme. Today, the municipality consists of the districts of Bisdamitz, Blandow, Hagen, Lohme, Nardevitz, Nipmerow and Ranzow. There are many special features in the area that attract numerous tourists. The natural spectacle with the nationally known rock cliffs ensures a wide range of diversity. There are many hiking trails in the region, for example along the Jasmund National Park or on the Hochuferweg. Tourism is the strongest economic force in the region. Restaurants, souvenir shops and accommodation in a hotel or pension are known for the area and provide a variety of jobs. The surrounding area has many sights to offer: the port of Lohme with the demolition slope, the Ranzow Castle with the wonderful golf course, the Nipmerow and Ranzows megalithic tombs, the Swan Stone, boulder beaches such as in Lohme. The sandy beach in Glowe can be reached in just 15 minutes. With the B96 in Sassnitz, the nearest connection is about ten kilometers from Ranzow. It takes about 30 minutes by car to the city of Bergen.
